Austin-Based Chameleon Hospitality Acquired by Growing Private Equity-Backed Restaurant Group
Austin, TX – [October 11, 2024] – Chameleon Hospitality, a cornerstone of Austin’s vibrant restaurant scene for over 12 years has been acquired by a local private equity-backed restaurant group. This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for Chameleon Hospitality, as the acquiring group will expand their current concepts footprint by leveraging its recently raised private equity funds and also continue building on the success and legacy Chameleon has cultivated within the Austin community.
The acquisition includes both the Swift's Attic and Wu Chow brands, however, to keep focus on the Swift's Attic & Wu Chow downtown’s quality of service and guest experience, this acquisition will result in sunsetting of the Wu Chow North Lamar location which will close as of Friday, October 11, 2024. The Rosedale and surrounding neighborhoods have been very supportive, and the team is very grateful for the opportunity to have served them.
Chameleon Hospitality’s managing partner, Stuart Thomajan, will be stepping back from all operations as part of this transition. After years of hands-on leadership, Thomajan has chosen to retire from the hospitality business, and will focus on his real estate and private equity businesses. However, he will continue to provide strategic and marketing support for the company, ensuring continuity and assisting with long-term growth.
The existing management team at Chameleon Hospitality will remain in place, preserving the operational consistency and guest experience that Austin diners have come to know and love. “We are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished over the last 12 years,” said Stuart Thomajan. “Serving the Austin community has been an honor, and we are deeply grateful to our guests for their unwavering support and loyalty. This transition represents new opportunity for the Chameleon team, and we’re confident new ownership will uphold the same values and commitment to excellence that have defined our business.”
This acquisition is not just a passing of the torch but an opportunity to continue the proud legacy of Chameleon Hospitality, while positioning the company for further success and growth in the years to come.
